When to use the Genesis™ Ovulation Tester
The Genesis™ Ovulation Tester allows you to view the ferning pattern in dried saliva that is a direct result of ovulation. Use the Genesis™ Ovulation Tester first thing in the morning before eating, drinking, smoking, brushing, or any other activity which may dilute or alter the saliva. When you begin to detect the onset of the ferning pattern, you should ovulate within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Specific Instructions
You may start using the Genesis™ Ovulation Tester on any day of your cycle, but once started you should maintain daily use in order to accurately and consistently track your ovulation cycle.
Step 1. Remove the Genesis™ Ovulation Tester from the packaging and inspect for any obvious damage.

Step 2. Remove the cap. The Genesis™ Ovulation Tester should illuminate in brilliant optical green.

Step 3. Place a drop of saliva on the Saliva Specimen Plate. The Saliva Specimen Plate is located on the back side of the Genesis™ ovulation Tester where the Battery Access Screw is located. Ensure there are no air bubbles or contaminants in the saliva. Allow to air dry several minutes. The Saliva Specimen Plate is a precision glass plate designed to make viewing of the specimen easy and clear. Do not apply pressure to the plate as this may damage the plate.
Step 4. When the drop of saliva has dried, turn the Genesis™ Ovulation Tester over and view the pattern through the sample viewing lens.

Compare the ferning pattern that you see in the sample viewing lens with the images shown here.

NO
If the pattern you see is similar to this image, where only small spots and irregular shapes appear, you are not ovulating. Record this in your daily log. Use an “N” for “No” or non-ovulating days.

MAYBE
If you see this pattern or a similar pattern, where there are some regular ferning structures, along with some irregular spots and shapes, this indicates that ovulation is either beginning or ending. If this pattern first shows up after a day that is indicated as N, then you are beginning to ovulate. Record this image in your daily log as “M” for “Maybe.”

YES
If you see this pattern or a similar pattern, where the majority of the pattern is strongly “fern-like” then you are ovulating. Record this pattern in your daily log as “Y” for “Yes.”
Note: As you become familiar with the patterns, you will recognize the onset of ovulation as an increase in the quantity and quality of the fern-like pattern until the entire field of view is filled with the ferning pattern. On the days after ovulation, you will note a sharp decrease in the ferning pattern.
Step 5. Clean the saliva specimen plate using the microfiber lens cleaning cloth that came with your Genesis™ Ovulation Tester. Lens cleaning solution or other mild cleaning agents may be used.
Step 6. Replace the cap to ensure the sample viewing lens and saliva specimen plate are protected.
Disposal Instructions
The Genesis™ Ovulation Tester can be recycled along with other electronic equipment. The Genesis™ Ovulation Tester contains a CR2032 Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery and should be disposed of in accordance with local rules and regulations. Please be kind to our environment.
